MY BIRTHDAY

I seriously had the most amazing birthday weekend this year! My birthday fell on a Sunday, so we celebrated all weekend long! Michael bought me a laptop!! He was too excited to give it to me, so I actually got it on Friday. I pretty much haven't stopped using it since.

Michael and I were supposed to go play games at a friend's house on Friday night. Luckily, I decided I had extra time and wanted to dress a little nicely, because it was actually a SURPRISE PARTY!! I was shocked! I had no idea until we pulled up to their house and it was all dark, then I kinda wondered!

 I had a lot of fun at the party, there was fantastic food, great friends and some awesome games with just the right level of competitiveness!
On my actual birthday, I had a calm laidback day. I got to hang out and play games on my new laptop, and then at 10:30pm, my mom brought over an icecream cake for me. I was born at 10:30pm and she thought it would make me happy, which it did. Such a good day. Thanks mom!

It's about time I finally got you another meal-in-a-jar. This is a recipe I got from my cousin while we were visiting her for a family reunion. Between the two of us, we have six kids and all six of them ate this and asked for more! That's a huge hit in my book, so I definitely needed the recipe. I made 6 jars so that I have lots for my pantry because I know my kids are going to want to eat this over and over. The one adjustment I made was not adding green chilies, and that's only because I didn't have any, not because I don't want them. Beef Stew Meal-In-A-Jar

My meal in a jar recipe for February is a traditional beef stew, like my mom always made when we were growing up. There are a few adjustments that you can make depending on how you are going to eat prepare and eat this meal, but however you do it, it's going to be classic and delicious!   We are currently in a nasty cold streak with daily highs around -20 Celsius and wind chills that often take our lows to -40 Celsius. In the midst of this cold snap, we had a hockey tournament. Just when you want to curl up with a good book all weekend, we are going back and for from home to rink, without much break between. Between games, I decided to make this recipe and throw it in the crock pot so that it would be ready when we came home and were in need of something to warm our bones. Forgiveness

Just a random picture that I like (no it's not my husband that I'm talking about!) Okay, so I'm not one to get easily offended. Mostly I just let things slide (It's taken some work to get to this point). But when I do get offended, it really cuts deep and I have a hard time letting it go. There are only a few things that can bother me, and even then, it's really only comments from the people I care about that affect me. ('Cause let's be real, if I don't know the person, then they don't really know me and there opinion is basically meaningless). But sometimes I find someone really does strike that cord and it's hard for me to let go. I really want to get past this and find a way to not be so hurt by things.
