Accomplishment
Ok, so some days I feel like:
Yep. I've got this. Things are running smooth I'm accomplishing what I want to accomplish and I'm happy with my life.
And then other days it's more like:
This is SO hard and it's never going to end. How can I possibly get done what I NEED to get done, let alone what I WANT to get done!
So when I'm having one of the latter days (ha ha that sounds churchy!) I find that it really helps to think of the things that I have accomplished in my life. Focusing on what I have done, helps me to feel more positive and gives me motivation to keep going.
So here it is. This is my list of things that I have accomplished over the past year. Some big, some little, but all important in some way or another.
1. Gave birth to a beautiful baby boy! (That really should be enough all on it's own!)
2. Made Natasha's quilt
3. Made Christmas Dinner and Thanksgiving Dinner almost entirely by myself
4. Moved my family to Kimberly for the summer and survived
5. Bought fruit on sale all summer long and stored it to make jam, pies, smoothies etc.
6. Made Strawberry, Blueberry and Rhubarb jam.
7. Tried lots of new recipes: breads, jams, casseroles, cookies, etc.
8. Made a bunch of applesauce
9. Made a quilt top for Peter
10. Finished my 2010 scrapbooks and started on 2011
11. Wrote down Zachary's birth story
12. Learned A LOT of patience
13.Got rid of a TONNE of clutter that was in my house
14. Spent HOURS doing family history
15. Took over 100 names to the temple
16. Took Peter and Heather to the temple several times
17. Baked apple, banana cream, and pumpkin pies
18. Made cheesecake several times
19. Made manacotti and lasagna
20. Made cute Canada Day decorations from ideas on blogs
21. Attended most all of my church meetings
22. Took my little boys to Calaway park
....
Okay, so this list could go on for a while, and that's precisely what my point is. Even though it sometimes feels like my days are meaningless and I'm bashing my head against the wall, getting nothing accomplished; I'm making progress. I'm accomplishing things. I'm making a difference in the lives of those around me. Especially the lives of the other six people living in my home.
I matter.
What I do, matters.
It's important. And I need to keep going.
