Five Months! Wow!
Okay, so it's a little early, but just a very little! Zachary Michael Yanos is (just about) five months old! That is so crazy to me! He's getting so big so fast, and it doesn't matter how much I make the time to enjoy him, it still goes by way too fast! I am loving this little guy, and I'm loving that I feel good and am enjoying him.
It's kinda crazy, I actually find that I am less stressed with five kids than I was with two, three or four. I guess I've learned a lot from the other four!
Zachary has made a lot of big steps this month.
He now has really good head control, so that opens up a whole world of possibilities for him. He now sits in his Bumbo - and tries to eat his toes. He plays in his play-toy-thing...I don't know what to call it, but he likes it, and he loves his jolly jumper, especially if he has the mirror out to watch himself. (Wow, what a run on sentence!) We are having fun as he is very free with his smiles now and he recognizes our voices. He puts on huge grins for Michael, David and me when he hears our voices. But it doesn't take much from the other kids to get him grinning either.
He is really enjoying bath time, and doesn't generally get startled by the water anymore, but instead gets excited when he hears the water running. We recently took him to the lake and he wasn't too crazy about the waves, but he tolerated them. I love the way his hair floats in the water and makes a halo around his face. It's so adorable. (I'm afraid to say it, but I don't know if he's going to make it to his first birthday without a hair cut - so sad!)
Zac has started to grab everything! Which means that having him on my lap while I eat, isn't working out so well anymore - thank goodness for the Bumbo!
I am still nursing Zachary exclusively, (Although Michael is just itching to give him freezies and other junk!) and one of the sweetest thing he does is that he plays with his hair while nursing. It's the cutest thing, and I don't know how to get a picture without really exposing myself, which I'm not crazy about doing! The other really sweet thing, is that he holds on to me while he's nursing. So, if he's not playing with his hair, he's got a handful of my skin (which sounds like it should be painful, but oddly enough, it's not at all).
I am absolutely in love with Zachary's hair, and I'm so glad that everyone who insisted it would fall out, was wrong. He has a lot of new growth coming in underneath, but all of his newborn hair is still there and he doesn't have a bald spot (a positive of tummy sleeping...lol). I love to feel how soft his hair is and run it through my fingers. I form it into ponytails (not with elastics, just with my fingers) and I love it when it sticks up and looks like feathers on top of his head!
We are having so much fun with this baby! He is a real joy in our life. He is very mild mannered and just loves everyone. He hasn't started playing strange yet, but who knows, it could start any time now! I love making him giggle by blowing on his belly and kissing his neck. Oh, and just the other day, I found out that his thighs are really ticklish! I'm excited for all of the new discoveries we are going to make in the next few months. Zachary is really close to sitting up (he can hold it for a few seconds) and rolling over, he already loves books and music. So happy five months Zac! We LOVE having you around!

Bad Michael! But still cute...and it was a teeny taste! |
